Fluidra Accelera promotes the viability of innovative projects that have an impact on wellbeing, sustainability and the environment. With this aim, the Company promotes innovation among workers in the Fluidra Group through its Innovation Week initiative.
Innovation week, open to all Fluidra employees, promotes entrepreneurship inside the company through a five-day event packed with intensive sessions designed to come up with never-before-seen solutions. 12 of the company’s employees will be participating in this second edition of the event, developing their ideas at noteworthy creative centres in Catalonia.
During this creative immersion, from 1 to 5 October, the teams will be accompanied by a group of mentors from different backgrounds who are experts in fostering talent through new technology. The 2nd Innovation Week will take place at Catalan hubs and spaces like Món San Benet, Espai Crea, Fab Lab Sant Cugat, everis Living Lab, Teatreneu and Antiga Fàbrica DAMM. Here, the teams will channel their ideas, develop new projects and take masterclasses on different topics related to the call.
Connectivity and new trends
The first call, held in 2017, led to the creation of Cubic (a space that recreates the optimal training conditions for triathletes), Poolmeet (an app that encourages collaborative use of pools) and Spoolify (an app that detects the user’s mood through music and adapts the lighting, temperature and interactive elements to fit). These projects are focused on connectivity and new trends applied to the pool sector.
Participants showed they understand the needs of the sector well and contributed new ideas with high value added. They are all Fluidra employees but with a wide variety of professional profiles: engineers, human resources, auditors, accountants, salespeople, executive assistants, etc.
The new projects, Cubic, Poolmeet and Spoolify, had an exhibit space in the Start-up Village, a space set aside for emerging companies at the Piscina & Wellness Barcelona trade show.
Three projects in the incubation phase at Fluidra Accelera
The projects began their kick-off phase at Fluidra Accelera, studying the feasibility of commercial development and assessing profitability and industrialisation.
During the initial incubation phase of the project, the teams visited IberSpa, a company based in Cervera (Catalonia) and a leader in the spa design and manufacturing sector. There they learned the whole industrialisation process for a spa, from concept to production.
All of the participants currently devote 20% of their work time to these projects and, according to Fluidra Accelera Manager Xavier Servat, “The results from Innovation Week are excellent, so we want to consolidate the initiative in the future.”
